A community store built around wellness and local makers has arrived on Jefferson Street

The Green Door Community Store, powered by The City Juicery and Takeoff Essentials, sells local products, pours fresh juice and hosts workshops at 1213 Jefferson St in North Nashville.

Jefferson Street has a new storefront with an old idea behind it: a store that is also a gathering place. The Green Door Community Store opened this fall at 1213 Jefferson St, powered by two Nashville businesses, The City Juicery and Takeoff Essentials, and built around wellness, local products and community events.

What is inside

The announcement from The City Juicery describes a space where people can shop, connect, learn and create. Inside are fresh juices, herbs, wellness resources and products from local businesses. The partners also list services that do not fit a normal retail shelf, including live blood analysis from the wellness side of the house. Outside, the plan is programming: workshops, poetry, live showcases and conversations. The partners' own summary is the shortest one: wellness meets culture, and community has a home.

Who is behind it

The founder is Kayla Hall, the founder and CEO of The City Juicery. Hall started the juice business in 2023 and has grown it steadily, including a hub at the Nashville Farmers Market and a run of partner locations across the city. Takeoff Essentials is the second partner in the store. Both are Black-owned Nashville businesses, and the announcement frames the store plainly as the two coming together to build something bigger than either business alone.

The Jefferson Street anchor

The address matters. Jefferson Street was the commercial heart of Black Nashville for generations, and every new storefront on it carries that history. The building at 1213 Jefferson is a one-story retail store, and the store marked its arrival with a grand opening event at the address this fall.

What to watch

The store speaks for itself on Instagram at @greendoorcommunitystore, where its posts carry opening news, vendor calls and community updates from Jefferson Street. The account does not link a separate store website. The City Juicery's channels remain another place to catch workshop dates and storefront news. For a street that has waited a long time for investment that serves the neighborhood itself, a wellness store stocked with local makers is a meaningful addition.
